Advanced Placement Track (APT)
The Advanced Placement Track (APT) of the Baccalaureate Nursing Program is designed to meet the needs of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) seeking formal educational advancement. Eligibility for advanced placement will be based on academic transcripts, licensure verification, pertinent skill knowledge documentation, and placement examination.
This program allows LPNs to challenge by testing, selected nursing courses up to a TOTAL of 25 credit hours. Students will be granted partial/full credit in NURS 3345 (Adult Health I) depending on documented experience and grade on the placement examination.
A student identified as an APT student is expected to be diligent in maintaining a continuous dialogue with their assigned advisor/mentor. Research has demonstrated that student success is influenced by a consistent mentorship between the faculty and student. The Department of Nursing supports this philosophy in educating nursing students.
