The Department of Nursing at AASU has several different tracks within the graduate (MSN) and undergraduate (BSN) programs to meet the educational needs of Southeastern Georgia and the coastal region. Please ensure you complete the appropriate application and requirements for the curriculum track that best fits your area of interest. For more information on each track, click on the links below:
- BS Nursing (Generic and Post-Baccalaureate Students seeking a BS in Nursing)
- Advanced Placement ( LPN/LVN's seeking a BS in Nursing)
- RN Options (Licensed Registered Nurses seeking a BS in Nursing)
- MS Nursing (All tracks of the Master of Science in Nursing Program)

Fall Admission - December 15 - February 12
Spring Admission - August 3 - September 30
General Admission Requirements
- Regular admission to Armstrong Atlantic State University. AASU Admissions
- All applicants must take the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) to submit application to the Department of Nursing
- A grade of C or higher is required for Core Areas A, D, and F courses. Repeating any course in Areas A, D, and F in order to achieve a passing grade of at least a C, reduces the students chance for admission to the Department of Nursing
- Repeating more than one course in Area A, D, and F to earn a passing grade of at least a C makes the student ineligible for admission to the Department of Nursing
- A minimum adjusted GPA of 2.7 on all attempted courses on the Program of Study for the Department of Nursing is required to submit application
- Successful completion of 51 semester hours in appropriate core courses prior to admission
- Successful completion of the Regents Test prior to application to Department of Nursing
- All core courses must be completed before beginning senior semester of nursing courses.
- Students with Conditional Admission must bring proof of meeting the requirements to the Department Secretary. Failure to do so will result in removal from the admitted list
- Post-baccalaureate students must have a GPA of at least 2.7 on required courses in Areas D (Statistics), and F (Human Anatomy & Physiology I and II with labs, Microbiology with lab, Intro to Psychology, and Human Growth and Development) in order to be eligible to apply for admission
- Sciences in Area F must have been successfully completion within 10 years of application
- All applicants to the Department of Nursing must be able to meet the Core Performance Standards
- The following factors are taken into consideration during the candidate selection process: GPA; hours completed at AASU; grades in all Core Areas with emphasis on Areas A, D, and F; successful completion of Regents and TEAS; any previously earned baccalaureate or masters degree

Students must meet all legal requirements for licensure.
Early Admission Requirements
Application for Early Admission is available for students enrolled at Armstrong Atlantic State University who meet the following:
- Completion of all courses in Areas A and D at Armstrong Atlantic State University with no repeat courses.
- GPA of at least 3.0 on core courses required for nursing majors.
- Successful completion of Regent's Reading and Writing examinations.
- Completion of the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS).
Apply for Early Admission after meeting the criteria listed above. Your application will be reviewed and youw ill be notified by mail if you have been accepted for conditional admission. This conditional admission guarantees your seat in the pre-licensure baccalaureate nursing program, provided that you amintain a GPA of at least 3.0 with no course repeats.
Early Admission students will need to continue academic progression to complete at least 50 hours of core, including all Area F courses with no repeats and maintain a GPA of at least 3.0. Progress will be monitored each semester by the Program Advisor.
At the beginning of each application process (Spring and Fall), Early Admission students scheduled for admission in that semester will be contacted by the Department of Nursing to determine continued interest and eligiblity. Qualified Early Admission students will be invited for admission.

Admission to the Baccalaureate nursing major is of a competitive nature. The following factors are taken into consideration during an applicant's selection process:
- Nursing Core GPA (GPA calculated based on nursing prerequisite course work)
- Total number of core curriculum hours completed at Armstrong
- Course grades for Core Areas A, D, and F
- Success on Regent's exam (oral and written)
- Previous college degree
Please remember to attach all transcripts to your applications. Applications
that do not have transcripts attached will be considered incomplete and
will not be processed.

Advanced Placement Track (APT) is an option for the student who has previous health care education as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse. These students must meet deadlines and requirements as listed above for BS Nursing admission.
RN Options Admission Requirements
(An option for the Georgia licensed registered nurse.)
- RNO Applications are accepted year round.
- A minimum adjusted GPA of 2.0 on all prerequisite course work
- Validation of a current Georgia license.
- RNs with a baccalaureate degree in a non-nursing major may be eligible to apply directly for admission to the Graduate program in Nursing.
In compliance with Armstrong Atlantic State University, the Department of Nursing will not exclude from employment or participation, deny the benefits of, or otherwise discriminate on the grounds of race, color, sex, religion, creed, national origin, age, or handicap provided the individual has the physical and mental capabilities to practice professional nursing as specified by the Core Performance Standards.
Legal Requirements: The Georgia Board of Nursing has the authority to refuse to grant a license to an applicant upon a finding by the board that the applicant has been convicted of any felony, crime involving moral turpitude, or crime violating a federal or state law relating to controlled substances or dangerous drugs in the courts of this state, any other state, territory, or country, or in the courts of the United States, including but not limited to a plea of nolo contendere entered to the charge. Unlicensed students may be employed only as unlicensed personnel. They may not represent themselves or practice as nursing students except as part of a scheduled clinical learning activity in the curriculum. Students must meet all legal requirements for licensure.
