Anticipated Student Expenses

Nursing students may expect to have additional expenses in excess of regular university tuition.

  1. Uniforms: Each student is responsible for meeting uniform standards. Meridy's Uniform & Accessory Company has been chosen as the supplies for student uniforms. Orders must be placed online at www.meridys.com. Initial student packets identify pass code to order uniforms. Name tags are maroon and white for all nursing students. Post- licensure students must identify themselves as AASU students and RN's on their name tags.
  2. Books: Required textbooks must be obtained by the beginning of each semester.
  3. Equipment: Students are required to purchase a watch that records seconds, bandage scissors, and a black ball point pen. It is also required that each student purchase a stethoscope. Other equipment may be required for specific courses.
  4. Transportation: Students are responsible for their own transportation for all clinical experiences and assigned field trips. Students are not to provide transportation for clients.
  5. Health and Safety Requirements: Liability insurance, health insurance, and CPR certification must be updated annually. Copies must be submitted before your annual program start date (August for students who begin the program in the fall semester and January for students who begin the program in the spring semester). All health and safety requirements must be current for entire academic year.
  6. Testing: Students are required to take standardized tests at the end of each semester. When possible the cost of the testing is included in admission fees. The student is responsible for all the testing fees.
  7. Exit Exam: In addition to the AASU exit exam (The Academic Profile), students are required to take a Department of Nursing exit exam. Fee payments are required for exit exams.
      • Pre licensure students are required to take the Comprehensive Baccalaureate Achievement Test as the Exit Exam.
      • Post licensure students are required to take the Value Added Completion Exam (ERI) as the exit exam.
  8. Graduation Fees: In addition to regular college graduation fees, students will also have the opportunity to purchase an AASU-BSN nursing pin.
  9. NCLEX-RN Exam: Pre-licensure graduates must meet all legal requirements for licensure as established by the Georgia Board of Nursing and provide the required fee in order to be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam for RN licensure. Students are also required to complete a "mock" NCLEX exam in their senior year.
  10. Disposable Equipment: Students will pay a fee each year for disposable equipment used in on-campus nursing labs.
  11. Miscellaneous: Throughout the program students may incur expenses related to assigned course projects.
