Rho Psi Strategic Plan 2007-2008

Goal 1: Enhance chapter viability

Strategies:
1. Continue to evaluate and refine procedure for inviting new student members
     • Eligibility Committee (Faculty Counselors)

2. Increase (promote) the number of nurse leader members inducted annually
     • Board members
     • Contacts at regional healthcare institutions
     • Contacts at specialty nursing organizations and other professional nursing         groups (Anita Nivens for NP, Lynn Stover for Women and Peds, Susan         Sammons for CNS, Jennifer Fournier for Hospice, Carey Freeland for Critical         Care, Margaret Coffey for GI, Cheryl Capers for GONL, Amber Derksen for         Oncology)

3. Increase/promote retention of active members
     • Offer quarterly program with Continuing Education
     • Initiate quarterly newsletter
     • Letters of welcome to new nurses in the area - Membership Involvement Chair      - work with local employers to include STT information in orientation packets.

4. Foster new member involvemen
     • Congratulation cards for induction and include calendar with welcome
     • Committee membership
     • Submit names to AASU University Relations for publicity (Counselors)

5. Utilize electronic communication mechanism
     • Listserve for STTI with other local officers on a national basis      (memserv@stti.iupiu.edu) and have each board member join
     • Rho Psi Website
     • Continue electronic voting
     • Initiate e-newsletter

6. Maintain/update chapter website
     • Helen Taggart and lynn Stover with Nursing Department support

7. Each Board member will create and maintain a binder of officer-specific information, including: minutes, bylaws, and resources/lists/notes from current year's activities in office. This binder will be passed on directly to the next officer in succession.


Goal II: Strengthen the financial base of chapter operations

Strategies:
1. Generate revenue from non-dues sources (Treasurer/Finance Committee)
     • Product sales: coasters and post-it note holders; pens, mouse pads - continue      to sell current inventory
     • Raffle items at STT events
     • Invest part of funds in interest-bearing account (Treasurer/Finance Committee)

2. Prepare and monitor annual budget for expenses and investments (Treasurer/ Finance Committee)
     • Finance committee/Treasurer

Goal III: Develop the scholarship/leadership competencies of members

Strategies:
1. Provide resources to support research and clinical innovation (expand research funding opportunities)
     • Seed grants (Executive Board)
     • Advertise on Rho Psi website (Webmaster)

2. Provide forum(s) to support incorporation of research findings into practice
     • Research Day (Research Chair)
     • Investigate with health care facilities opportunities to collaborate (President and       other board members)

3. Promote leadership development and mentoring opportunities
     • Leadership Training for members
     • Offer mentorship workshop
     • Collaborate with other organizations
     • New member orientation (Counselors)
     • First anniversary letters (Counselors)

4. Recognize member's achievements
     • Website - publicize all presentations/publications/accomplishments of members
     • Survey membership for information about accomplishments and post on web       site (President and webmaster)
